ABOUT CSR According to the definition of the European Commission, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the responsibility of enterprises for their impact on society. It manifests itself in respect for legislation and collective agreements between the social partners, which is a prerequisite for fulfilling the obligations arising from this responsibility. In order to fully meet these obligations, INTERKONTAKT a.s. has developed and implemented a mechanism for integrating consumer, social, environmental, ethical and human rights concerns with the company’s activities and its core strategy, in close cooperation with all stakeholders. Our involvement in social responsibility is based on 2 basic principles:: Our responsibility for the environment People are the main capital of our company. That is why “ik” INTERKONTAKT a.s. pursues an active corporate policy towards its own employees and their families. “INTERKONTAKT a.s. creates the safest and most comfortable working conditions for its employees and always helps to solve social and domestic problems. The company provides financial support to women who are on maternity or parental leave. We also have training courses for our employees. Our colleagues can raise their professional level at special classes and various monthly trainings. And most importantly, “ik” INTERKONTAKT a.s. is a big family: we have a collegial management style, which enables our employees to show autonomy and personal responsibility in their work and encourage their efforts based on their personal contribution. We promote a healthy lifestyle in the company and encourage sports activities in every possible way. As a large transport company we feel responsible for making Europe’s roads safer. That is why we have developed a special driver training program and driver’s handbook and introduced numerous measures for professional driver training. Our responsibility for the environment Our responsibility for the environment in the performance of our activities has deep roots at INTERKONTAKT a.s. Since the company’s founding, one of the basic principles of the company has been to operate machines exclusively on a “round trip” basis and to avoid idle runs. INTERKONTAKT a.s. transports a large part of its traffic by rail in an effort to reduce exhaust emissions. At the end of the nineties the environmental protection measures expanded into an extensive environmental management system. Our environmental measures include the following: Use of goods and services that do not harm the environment; reducing water consumption; reducing the amount of trash and disposing of it properly; Travel that spares resources. We pay special attention to external environmental activities: refresher courses for truck drivers – Conscious, environmentally appropriate driving; Optimum organization of transport in order to reduce idling time; cooperation with international organizations to improve environmental standards; development of multimodal transport (increasing the use of rail and water transport).
